Spring 2017 Ready to Wear

This season’s Ready to Wear shows featured lots of designers new to the Fashion Week scene and with that also came some fresh concepts for the Spring. Miranda Priestly would be proud! No florals for spring – and it was groundbreaking!

My 4 favorite shows, however, were some of my old favorites…

Marc Jacobs updated his 90s grunge theme by using bright, bold prints on his trademark slouchy silhouette. I kind of reminded me of how the students at Hogwarts would have dressed if there were no uniform guidelines. He caught a little backlash from some Black people about the dreadlocked models – I (who happen to be a Black woman if you haven’t noticed) didn’t have a problem with it. Don’t miss those camouflage panties in my favorite look below! I love those!

Roberto Cavallli always has a way of making fall more in love with a great maxi dress and this piece from his show this season does not disappoint! There was patchwork and denim with some color palates that are traditionally considered fall mixed in with soft spring blue and lavender hues.

Dsquared2 is always a show that I seek out even when I was on writing hiatus. I love the twins’ funky style and the way the bring their out of the box ideas to us every season with such a fresh originality. They went for bright colors instead of pale spring palates, mixing them with bleach spotted denim and huge, overdramatic shoulders. I could not do those shoulders on me but I would love to style somebody in one of those tops! I have already styled the skirt in this photo that caught my eye – for me!

Last but not least, Missoni…

This label has creeped into my list of favorites consistently for about 5 years and they say after 5 years, the relationship is more than likely to last forever. I really hope this love affair lasts forever because I adore their dresses. Their collection was sleek and sexy. The focus was on their great prints and the bodies that were wearing them.
